Finally saw Eraserhead. Better 35 years late than never.

Something a little fun to get you stompin’

I still have no idea why there are male and female XLR cables coming out of the floor in my bedroom…

So today I spent a while taking pictures around the new place. As you may have heard, I moved into PhilaMOCA. It was beautiful outside and I got a lot accomplished. Here are a few shots from the day.

PhilaMOCA

So I’ve been a little absent from Tumblr because I spent the weekend moving. Currently I am the newest resident of PhilaMOCA (Mausoleum of Contemporary Art), which is a music and art venue near Spring Garden. It’s a pretty sizable building that used to be a tombstone showroom (thus the mausoleum part). If anyone knows Diplo (the DJ that founded Mad Decent), he used to be based out of here too. Don’t quote me on this but I think he’s my landlord. Needless to say, there is a bunch of history to this place and surely a lot more to be made. I’m a tinge disoriented but otherwise quite excited about being here. My last year and 8 months were spent in Kensington - one of Philadelphia’s least friendly areas. For those of you familiar with the city, I lived two blocks away from Somerset station, which is known as an open-air market for pills, needles, heroin, and all the other pleasantries that go along with that. Now suddenly I’m a member of an art and music co-op with a history of quality work. Today, for instance, I woke up to a Hindustani classical performance complete with sitar and tabla. It was amazing. I’m beginning to think this is exactly what I had in mind when I made the leap to this crazy city. Glad I can be a part of this. Big changes for me and great things to come. Cheers!

A writer’s milestone: first translation into another language.

My article about the work of artist LiQin Tan was published as part of his upcoming catalog in both English and Chinese. Very exciting!
